General Information AdmissionAdmission is $6.00; $3.00 for senior citizens and students with ID. Members admitted free. An optional 30-45 minute tour of the house is included. Additional charges apply for demonstrations, festivals, and special events. Because it reflects conditions of seventeenth century Japan, the Pine Breeze Villa is not easily accessible to users of wheelchairs, walkers, or canes. Please contact us before your visit to make special arrangements. Groups of more than 10 persons need to make reservations at (215) 878-5097. Guided tours are provided for groups of 3 to 9 people. Tea ceremony demonstrations may also be arranged, at an additional charge. We are not handicap accesible. Hours: May through September Wednesday-Friday 10 am-4 pm Saturday and Sunday 11 am-5pm April available during the week for pre-booked groups of 10 or more † (October open for special events and weddings only) *To make a booking call 215-878-5097 or email info@shofuso.com Directions: The Pine Breeze Villa (Shofuso) is located on the grounds of the Horticulture Center, in West Fairmount Park, Philadelphia, near the intersection of Belmont Avenue and Montgomery Drive. By automobile, take the Montgomery Drive exit from I-76 (the Schuylkill Expressway), turn west on Montgomery and take the first left; pass through the gate and follow Horticultural Drive around the greenhouses to the Japanese House. Park behind the Japanese House complex. The Horticulture Center may also be entered from Belmont Avenue by turning east onto Montgomery Drive. By public transportation, take SEPTA bus 38 from Center City or the Wissahickon Transfer Station to the intersection of Belmont Avenue and Montgomery Drive. The Japanese House is a five minute walk down Montgomery from the bus stop, through the iron gates and over the hill to the right. |
